Crab and Lobster restaurant at Asenby near Thirsk is one we always try to visit when in the area. Friendly greeting on arrival followed by very polite, professional, unrushed service.
Luckily we managed to get a table in the pub area on our last visit as we called in on spec and hadn’t booked.
It’s many years since our last visit and the food is still excellent.
Was able to mix and match from the Set lunch menu and the Specials board which was good.
3 types of bread and more on offer if required.
Mussels with Smoked Bacon, Savoy Cabbage, White Wine Cream to start and Cornish Sole as a main, both a pleasure to eat.
Cornish Lemon Sole with scallops, crab, cheddar cheese topped prawns and Savoy cabbage might appear to be an unusual mix but it was gorgeous.
Desserts were irresistible and sheer indulgence.
The restaurant is still full of bric a brac but not as interesting as it used to be. Now the ceiling nets are mainly full of sea shells and jockey tags. Black bras and pants hung on airer in gents loo is certainly unusual/amusing.
